About
Matthew Riley is an Iowa-based entrepreneur, aviation enthusiast, and longtime community servant with a career rooted in discipline, craftsmanship, and service. Raised on a century farm in Northwest Iowa, Matthew developed an early appreciation for heritage, hard work, and personal accountability. His father’s military service required relocation during his formative years, instilling resilience and adaptability. Athletics played a central role in his youth — competing in football, track, basketball, and achieving distinction as a Junior Olympic skating state champion, regional champion, and fifth-place national finisher. Matthew began working early, balancing high school with roles at McDonald’s, Menards, and an electrical engineering drafting internship. He later completed a rigorous four-year apprenticeship through Sheet Metal International Local 45, earning top placements in competitive apprenticeship contests. Over time, Matthew expanded his career beyond skilled trades into entrepreneurship. His portfolio has included construction, floor covering, real estate development, aviation ventures, oil interests, bullion holdings, and financial optimization projects. These ventures have ranged from startup enterprises to multi-million-dollar operations — all built through persistence and long-term strategic thinking. Outside business, Matthew has dedicated significant time to public service. He served ten years with the Corning Volunteer Fire Department, advancing to Captain and contributing to leadership, safety, and operational planning. He also served as both operational member and board member of the Midwest Regional Dive Team, specializing in technical recovery and public safety diving. A licensed pilot and lifetime member of the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA), Matthew volunteers as a Young Eagles pilot and serves as a mission pilot with the U.S. Air Force Auxiliary. He combines aviation with exploration and service, flying internationally in his single-engine aircraft. He is also an accomplished diver, licensed amateur radio operator (ARRL member), and participant in ARES emergency communications support. Family remains central to his life. He takes pride in being a steady and supportive presence for his two granddaughters, emphasizing resilience, opportunity, and guidance.
